Our farmers have had to get the clippers out again to shear our sheep because of the continued hot weather spell.

Cannon Hall Farm usually shears its sheep one a year in May (twice a year for the Swiss Valais who have a thicker fleece.)

But despite being sheared just a few weeks ago, our farmers have all had to pitch in to shear them again to help them stay healthy and comfortable in the continued hot spell.

Farmer Dale Lavender said: “The hot weather may be bliss for holidays – but for our Swiss Valais Sheep its a problem. The extreme and continued heat has meant we’ve had to step in and shear them early.

“Their fleece is so thick and dense that it needed to be removed because they would just get too hot with it still on.”
